Joseph Sortwell joined LandVest’s Camden office in the spring of 2012, working alongside his father, Terry Sortwell, and building on a longstanding family presence in Midcoast Maine real estate. A Camden native, Joseph represents distinctive coastal properties from Boothbay to the Blue Hill Peninsula, including the islands of Penobscot Bay and Muscongus Bay, and he also advises clients on unique farm and legacy properties across the region. His deep local roots give him a nuanced understanding of the communities, landscapes, and waterfront lifestyle that define Maine’s Midcoast.

Joseph is known for a thoughtful, client-focused approach and steady guidance through every stage of a transaction—from early pricing strategy and property positioning to negotiation and closing. He works with both buyers and sellers, with particular strength in helping clients evaluate coastal and island settings, navigate logistics unique to waterfront and rural ownership, and align property features with long-term goals.

He attended Proctor Academy and earned his degree from Roanoke College. Outside of real estate, Joseph is an avid golfer and tennis player and enjoys exploring the waters of coastal Maine.
