Executive Vice President, Managing Director of Timberland Transactions
Joe Taggart is Executive Vice President and the Director of LandVest’s Timberland Transaction Division, specializing in the marketing, valuation, disposition planning and acquisition of institutional timberland properties across the United States. As group head, Mr. Taggart oversees LandVest’s timberland transaction and consulting business across North America. Mr. Taggart also provides economic evaluation to timberland consulting and marketing projects throughout the U.S. Over the last 15 years, he has managed the disposition of over 1.5 million acres of investment grade U.S. timberland at a value in excess of $1.5 billion. Taggart has further served as the lead consultant on the valuation and management of over 10 million acres of institutional timberland.
Prior to joining LandVest in 2000, Joe worked as a timberland appraiser, log buyer, and land sales manager for the Weyerhaeuser Company in Washington and Oregon. His responsibilities included the purchase of all of the company’s export timber in the state of Oregon as well as the acquisition and disposition of timberland in Oregon and Washington. Prior to his work at Weyerhaeuser, Taggart worked in operations for the Pacific Lumber and Shipping Company out of Seattle, Washington and in Operations Support for Mistik Management in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan.
Joe graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Forest Management and Economics. He later earned a Master’s of Forest Economics degree from Yale University. He is a licensed real estate salesperson in the state of New Hampshire, Vice Chairman of the Amherst, NH Zoning Board of Adjustment, Board member of the Amherst Land Trust and certified log scaler with the Columbia River Bureau (inactive). Joe is a member of LandVest’s Board of Directors and represents the Timberland Transaction Division on the Senior Management Team.
